STEREOTACTIC BREAST BIOPSY

Accredited by the American College of Radiology

American College of Radiology - Center of Excellence Stereotactic breast biopsy is a safe and minimally invasive procedure. After the technologist explains the procedure you will lie face down on the biopsy table with the breast positioned through an opening. The biopsy site will be cleansed and anesthetized to minimize discomfort. A small incision is made and the radiologist inserts a biopsy needle to obtain tissue samples using vacuum assistance. A small stainless steel marker is placed at the biopsy site for future reference and a mammogram is performed after the procedure to confirm marker placement. You will receive post‑biopsy instructions and be asked to return for a site check in 3–4 days.

Vero Radiology Women's Imaging Center is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology.
