Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound

Accredited by the American College of Radiology

Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to visualize soft tissue organs and vascular structures. It is a painless non invasive way to evaluate a number of internal organs.

Types of Exams

OB/Pregnancy Ultrasound

An OB Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to visualize an embryo or fetus. We can evaluate normal pregnancy, determine fetal development and due dates. We offer 4-D ultrasound images and are certified by The Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program.

General & Organ Ultrasound

Pelvic, Abdominal, Gallbladder, Kidney, Bladder, Pancreas and Scrotum Ultrasound. Painless imaging using a transducer to visualize internal organs.

Thyroid & Neck

Evaluation of the soft tissue structures of the neck such as the thyroid gland.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Screening of the abdominal area to evaluate for possible aortic aneurysm.

Venous/Carotid (Doppler)

Specialized imaging to view vascular function and blood flow. Excellent for identifying blood clots in legs, aortic aneurysms, or plaque buildup in carotid arteries.

Sonohysterogram

Uses a probe to visualize the endometrium (uterus lining). A small catheter is inserted through the cervix. Procedure takes 20-30 minutes.

Thoracentesis & Paracentesis

Ultrasound-guided procedures to locate and drain fluid collections from the chest (thoracentesis) or abdomen (paracentesis).

Breast Procedures

Breast Ultrasound

Often performed as a supplement to mammography. High frequency sound waves are used to make high resolution images of the breast for radiologist evaluation.

Ultrasound Guided Breast Biopsy

A minimally invasive procedure where the radiologist locates abnormal tissue using ultrasound, anesthetizes the area, and takes tissue samples with a vacuum-assisted needle. A small marker is placed, and a follow-up mammogram is performed.

Breast Aspiration

Using ultrasound guidance, fluid is removed from a cyst or abnormal area in the breast using a small needle under local anesthesia.

Vero Radiology Women's Imaging Center is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology.

  • Gallbladder / Abdomen / Aorta / Kidney: No food, drink, or medication 6-8 hours prior to exam.
  • Kidney only (Renal): No Prep required.

Biopsy & Aspiration Prep

  • Discontinue aspirin 7 days prior to exam.
  • Discontinue Vitamin E, Plavix and other anticoagulants 5 days prior to exam.
  • Discontinue blood thinners (Coumadin) 4 days prior (PT, PTT, INR labs needed 24 hours prior).
