BONE DENSITY

Our GE Lunar dual hip and spinal DEXA scan is a simple, non-invasive test that can measure bone strength and predict fracture risk before you develop osteoporosis so your doctor can start preventative therapy.



A bone density test may also be used to evaluate current therapy.



BONE DENSITY PREP

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing without zippers, button grommets, underwire or any other metal to the exam.
  • Do not schedule this exam within one week after having an exam that uses barium, a radioisotope injection or oral/IV contrast materials such as an MRI or CAT SCAN.
  • Occasionally an x-ray of the spine may be needed.
  • Please allow 30–45 minutes for your exam.
