Bone Density
Our GE lunar dual hip, spinal dexa scan is a simple, non-invasive test that can measure bone strength and predict fracture risk before you develop osteoporosis so your doctor can start preventative therapy.
A bone density test may also be used to evaluate current therapy.
Bone Density Prep
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing without zippers, button grommets, under wire or any other metal to the exam.
- Do not schedule this exam within one week after having an exam that uses barium, a radioisotope injection or oral/IV contrast materials such as and MRI or CAT SCAN.
- Occasionally an x-ray of the spine may be needed.
- Please allow 30-45 minutes for your exam.
